What are Corns and Calluses and How are They Treated?

They are commonly found on the feet, either on the tops or sides of the toes, in-between the toes or on the sole of the foot and form as a protective response to inappropriate footwear, bony deformity or walking patterns. Occasionally excessive callus formation may be genetic or an inherited condition or due to medications or hormonal imbalances.

We can help by identifying the possible causes of these painful lesions, treating them in clinic by reducing the build up of thickened skin and discuss home-care management strategies to reduce further pressure and trauma to the skin.
